Read Response-1 and Response-2 below and give your opinion on both responses separately. your answer should be supported with research unless the question is opinion oriented.. Responses to discussions below should not be “I agree” or “I like the way you stated that.” These responses should again be insightful, offering an opinion or facts based on your research and experiences. The opinion to both responses should be a minimum of 200 words each. See APA criteria for citing resources.

The below responses are of individuals who did “case study “Creating a Methodology” on page 108 and then answer one (1) of the questions on page 110.

Question 1: Can a PMO accelerate the implementation process?

Response 1: Indeed, PMO can quicken the execution procedure and is responsible for the assembly and usage process. The PMO is welcome for the business and its development. The PMO is involved in various experienced undertaking directors that are relied upon to take lead in the improvement procedure. The PMO builds up the rules and a wide structure for all groups and undertaking directors. The PMO ought to have clear instruments and procedures that help spare time and guarantee the correct exercises are being performed. The usage procedure is attempted to make quicker which is guaranteed by every one of the procedures, layouts, controls, and capacities. Whenever thought about a case, rather than the undertaking director and group investing energy choosing what apparatuses and procedures they need and afterward structuring the layouts, and so on the off chance that PMO has these characterized and prepared to be utilized, at that point it will spare a ton of time in the task and subsequently helps in quickening its advancement procedure. The PMO ought to characterize a strong structure that helps venture chiefs inappropriate administration and explores the frameworks which thus quicken difficulties in the undertaking. This will help in achieving the goals a lot snappier which will at last assistance venture chiefs to rapidly stall out.

PMOs also uses different sources of information and past results which can hinder the project and use that knowledge in their favor to see if the situation is the same. If the same situation is same then they implement the solution already present and solve that in less time which also saves the cost and time of project implementation.

The Project Management Institute (PMI) Program Management Office Community of Practice (CoP), portrays the PMO as a vital driver for hierarchical magnificence, which tries to improve the practices of execution management, authoritative administration, and vital change initiative.( “PMI’s Program Management Office (PMO Symposium): Asking Tough Questions, Identifying Solutions” (Press discharge). ,2014)

Along these lines, so, I can say that the capable and talented individuals from PMO are so differentiated in abilities and have the learning who effectively stop the postponement and diminish the project cost and take every one of the assets accessible in the association and use them properly to quicken the execution procedure.

The PMO will accelerate the culmination procedure feeling of the accompanying reasons:

• A working interest showed up by the pioneer of the association.

• Lucidity on jobs and obligations of people drew in with the PMO.

• The higher portion of intensity and expert is claimed by the PMO.

Question 2: Why is it best to have six or less life-cycle phases in an EPM system?

Response 2: The main function of an Enterprise Project Management System (EPM) is to help with managing multiple projects in an organization. It basically contributes to making the process of project management in large organizations, effective and efficient. This is done via a phase gate technique in most organizations. Each phase of the project has its own gate which is mainly where essential project decisions are evaluated. If there are too many gates, then it becomes difficult for the project team to focus on managing the project while being caught in reviewing individual phase gates. Most projects have six major phases: Intake, Initiate, Plan, Execute, Transition and Closure.

The first and foremost is the Intake Phase. During this phase, project proposals are developed and then submitted. Once the project proposal is submitted it is then reviewed by the appropriate authority who then makes the decision to approve, defer or reject the proposals. Efforts and schedules are then developed for the approved proposal. And the last task is to develop a phase gate review for the approved proposals.

The second phase is the Initiation Phase. Now project manager is assigned to the project and business requirements are documented. Various tasks are performed in this phase such as performing stakeholder analysis, conducting initial security review & developing preliminary project charter. The preliminary project charter also needs to be approved. Once that is done, phase gate review needs to be conducted.

The next is the planning stage where first a project team is created. Then a planning kickoff meeting is conducted wherein the project cycle is laid out. Major project plans are built along with supplemental plans. Risk analysis is performed, and a mitigation strategy is developed. Final project plan and charter are approved after careful refining. And lastly, perform a phase gate review.

Then comes the Execute stage. An execution kick-off meeting is set. Start on executing project tasks. AT this stage it is also important to perform project communication management. Manage project procurement and lastly conduct phase gate review.

After the Execution stage is the transition stage. The major tasks under this phase are: developing hard freeze code, execute system test plan, execute user acceptance testing, execute training plan, accept user guide, finalize business continuity and service recovery plans and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and many more. Conduct a phase gate review and accept completed project deliverables.

Last is the Closing phase. In this phase closeout activities are conducted. Closeout documents are laid out. Project artifacts should be achieved. Provide transition support to operations staff and disband project team.

In conclusion, it is always better to have six or fewer phases in a project life-cycle to be able to successfully manage and drive the project to completion. The above phases span widely and cover all the essential parts of a project. Adding more phase will lead to duplication of work as well as a waste of time in evaluating the gates.
